The creation process involves throwing the piece and waiting a day or two for the piece to dry to a leather hard stage for trimming. The piece is then covered and allowed to dry to a bone hard stage which can take an additional 5 to 10 days. The piece is then fired for 12 hours in a kiln to 1945℉ bringing it to a “bisque” stage leaving the clay body porous. The next step is to dip or brush glazes on to the clay surface and re-fire the piece to 2232℉.
